The practitioner’s role is to Underwrite a mortgage/home loan, Credit Assessment on the applicant, apply lending/credit policy, product and Mortgage Insurance guidelines, and a high level of judgment, in assessing the applicant’s creditworthiness.
Also not limiting to providing support to the consumer mortgage sales process for applications received from third parties (Brokers). This role assesses the applications received via Brokers/lenders, clarifies the loan(s) requirements of the Customer and determines how best to structure the loan(s) in the mainframe system, and refers to Mortgage Credit Officers as required for consideration. Loans are to be originated and serviced within specific service levels, providing a prompt, courteous, and accurate experience to the broker/lender by a phone call & chat.
Key Role candidates would be performing
- Meet or exceed quality assurance standards.
- Underwriting of home/mortgage Loan Credit Assessment - high level of judgement, in assessing applicant’s credit worthiness.
- Loan Construction and investigation.
- Apply lending/credit policy, product and Mortgage Insurance guidelines, and a high level of judgment, in assessing applicant’s creditworthiness. Adhere to Group/Australian Credit Policy and Code of Banking Practice with the objective of maximizing revenue and minimizing risk.
- Research customer requests by gathering all relevant information/data, ensuring all available avenues and sources of information are investigated.
- Ensure all research and investigation are accurately recorded including supporting evidence and documentation.
- External stakeholder communication via calls, emails, and chat.
- Exercise thorough creditworthiness assessment and sound decision-making.
- Change management and delivery of desired strategic outcome.
- Ensure the process is followed to meet audit and risk compliance.
- Achieves progression to appropriate skill levels within agreed timeframes.
- Build and collaborate with colleagues to enable objectives to be met.
- Prior experience of 1 year on the above.
Candidate Profile/Skillset Required
- Knowledge on self-employed & Business self-employed checks.
- Analyze financial data related to loan requests.
- Perform risk assessments on potential loan recipients based on credit rating, borrowing history, and other specific risk factors.
- Record loan denials and specific basis for declining applications.
- Monitor and report non-compliance with loan covenants.
- Assist with technical/core underwriting issues and questions.
- Review loan documentation and vendor reports to identify signs of fraudulent activity.
- Adapting underwriting policies and procedures.
- Appraisal report, Assets verification, Identification of large deposit, Purchase contract.
- Hazard Insurance, Flood insurance if applicable, Title report, Tax certificate, Tax transcript.
- Hands-on experience with balance sheets, profit & loss statements, and Income tax returns.
- Hands-on experience in Income, Expense, Liabilities check, and social security income.
- Strong focus on quality and commercial acumen.
- Decisive, commercially prudent, effective decision risk and reward.
- Excellent domain knowledge in Mortgage underwriting/end-to-end mortgage life cycle/ any one or two Banking domains.
- Evaluate loan documents to ensure accuracy and completeness.
